Anzac Day

Today is ANZAC Day. (It stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps). Its held on 25 April because on that day in 1915 Australian and New Zealander troops landed on the Gallipoli Peninsula to fight the Turks. (Turkey was Germany's ally during the First World War). About 60,000 Australian men died in the First World War. About 17,000 men from New Zealand were killed.
